Attendance

Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day.

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begins with students coming to school every day.

If students miss school regularly, they miss learning the basic skills needed for success in the later years of school.

There is no safe number of days for missing school. Missed days is linked to lower achievement in Maths, Writing and Reading.

Our school promotes student attendance by:

  • Providing a daily breakfast program. This provides students an opportunity to meet with peers socially before starting formal learning.
  • Weekly attendance awards. Each classroom teacher picks one student with 100% attendance for that week to receive an award at assembly
  • SUPERSTAR ATTENDERS- Twice a term (middle and end) students with 95% attendance or above, participate in a special celebration/activity. This may include going to the local playground, games afternoon or movie and popcorn!
  • Attendance plans- If a student’s attendance is below 90%, the school will meet with the family to develop an attendance plan to support your child to get to school every day
  • Attendance support person- we have a teacher dedicated to supporting students and families with their attendance
Absent 1 day a week for 5 years = 1 year of schooling missed!
