Reading, Writing and Mathematics are the focus of teaching and learning at Eaglehawk Primary School. All class sizes are below 20 to ensure greater teacher student time. Students participate in rich learning experiences, supported by explicit teaching, encouragement and specific praise. Literacy (English) and Mathematics:Eaglehawk Primary School’s Literacy (Reading and Writing) and Mathematics program is based on the teaching practices and high impact teaching strategies as outlined by the Victorian Department of Education and Training. Every class has a daily two-hour literacy block consisting of one hour of reading and one hour of writing. A minimum of 6 hours of mathematics occurs weekly with at least 1 hour daily. Science, Technologies and Humanities are taught through our inquiry units of work. The Capabilities (Critical & Creative Thinking, Ethical, Intercultural and Personal & Social) are taught throughout the day as well as explicitly during our wellbeing programs including ‘School Wide Positive Behaviour Support’ and Respectful Relationships’.Specialist ProgramsOur specialist programs include:
