Visual Art

Visual art is valued at Eaglehawk Primary School providing all students weekly one-hour specialist art learning. Students are encouraged to experiment in a structured and supportive environment that stimulates their natural curiosity of the world. In the process, a variety of techniques and materials are explored, expanding their understanding of the role of artists and their contribution to society.

Lesson plans are underpinned by the Victorian Curriculum, addressing the four strands: Explore and Express, Visual Art Practices, Present and Perform, Respond and Interpret. Activities support the development of a wide range of skills including: fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, hand and eye coordination, imagination, self- expression, concentration and perseverance, pride, organisation and social skills.

Students have the opportunity to experience the tactile nature of making art. This brings joy, builds confidence and develops a personal aesthetic. All art created is showcased and celebrated.
